Welcome to The Active Ham

This site exists as a public service to the Amateur community. Topics span a wide range; such as APRS, Google Maps, emergency communications, programming, and Winlink 2000 to name just a few. Topics don't necessarily have to be related to Amateur Radio, but they usually are. I tend to put things here that interest me, but am not opposed to other topics - feel free to make suggestions.

There are an assortment of programs in the Downloads section and also a few articles in in the Articles section. If you wish to contribute an article, please use the Contact link (to the left) to let me know what you have in mind.

A New and Easier Way to Use APRSLink
New APRSLink SP Command

Do you use APRS? If so, you can now send and receive regular email (multi-line) right from your APRS software or APRS enabled radio. APRSLink is a free service that provides a gateway between APRS and the Winlink 2000 email system.

Here's a sample session from my APRS station:

 K0QED>APU25N::WLNK-1   :W myemail@mydomain.com
 K0QED>APU25N::WLNK-1 :W1 This is the subject of the message
 K0QED>APU25N::WLNK-1 :W2 The APRSLink server collects message lines
 K0QED>APU25N::WLNK-1 :W3 one at a time and sends the entire message
 K0QED>APU25N::WLNK-1 :W4 with the command on the next line.
 K0QED>APU25N::WLNK-1   :/EX

And, this is what I received in my email inbox:

 From: MyCall@Winlink.org
 Subject: This is the subject of the message
 Body: The APRSLink server collects message lines one at a
 time and sends the entire message with the command on the
 next line.
